A November storm is dumping large amounts of snow in New York. In just one-hour, four-to-five inches of snow fell in Buffalo and more bad weather is expected as the system moves northeast. According to Accu Weather, Lake-effect snow over Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is spreading very cold air with temperatures 20 degrees below normal. Lake-effect snow happens when very cold air forms over a warm body of water which produces extreme winter weather and instability. Forecasters expect the weather to be cold over the weekend with lots of rain and warmer temperatures as we approach Thanksgiving. For now, bundle up, keep your umbrella handy, and stay safe.
