Crossover cyclones are rare, but the first of the 2022 Hurricane Season will occur this week. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) says Tropical Storm Bonnie is expected to join an exclusive group of systems that make their way from the Atlantic into the Pacific Ocean. This feature gives these “crossover” storms a special place in history. The last crossover storm was, Otto, more than 5 years ago and only 18 storms have this distinction. NHC says Bonnie won’t posed a direct threat to the U.S., but she will be a rain maker and could cause damage before she travels into the Pacific.
