A recent article in the Style Weekly highlights my ‘Keynote Address’ at the 2022 African American Book Festival in Richmond. The piece notes my comments at the book festival and quoted from Nobel Laureate – the late Toni Morrison, when she said, “if there is a book you want to read that you cannot find – you need to write it”. Morison’s statement served as motivation when I was writing The Overlooked Voices of Hurricane Katrina: Mississippi Black Women Survivors Resilience and Recovery.
