You can expect to see more hurricanes this month as the U.S. deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. The PEAK of Hurricane Season is during the months of September and October each year. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) predicts an above average number of storms will form in the coming weeks. To date, 3 major hurricanes have formed, Grace, Ida, and Larry, which is currently churning in the Atlantic Ocean. Right now, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA) is watching four systems circulating in the Atlantic Ocean. One of the systems, Hurricane Larry is expected to become a Category 4 storm and forecasters are not sure if it will impact the U.S or dissipate in the ocean. For now, if you live in a coastal community or know someone who lives near the ocean here’s what you can do before the next hurricane comes ashore: Get your hurricane kit ready now. Find sample items of what you need in your hurricane kit here (https://www.ready.gov/kit). Be sure to share my Blog with your family and friends so everyone stays safe.
