Recently, I participated in the 2022 annual African American Intellectual History Society (AAIHS) Conference. I gave a talk on my research and book, The Overlooked Voices of Hurricane Katrina: Mississippi Black Women Survivors Resilience and Recovery. The moderator engaged me and the other scholars during the ‘question and answer’ period as seen in the photo.  I gave voice to the plight of Mississippi Black women survivors to ensure that their experiences before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina are never forgotten.
