The aftermath of Hurricanes Milton and Helene left survivors in Florida and North Carolina with little or nothing. President Biden announced that FEMA will offer support of food and water, “for as long as it takes to rescue, recover and rebuild.” FEMA has disaster recovery centers in both states to assist people.

The National Hurricane Center released a statement that Milton, a category 3 storm, was the worst storm to move through the Gulf of Mexico since 2005 when Hurricane Katrina, also a Cat 3, flooded New Orleans and decimated the Mississippi Gulf Coast cities.
