This week’s Blog post is dedicated to my dear childhood friend, Billy Willis. God called Billy home this month and it was hard to hear this news. I met Billy and the Willis family when my family moved into our new home and neighborhood in the 1970s. The Willis’s lived right across the street from our house, so we saw each other every day. There was Mrs. Willis, a widow, and her children: Eleanor (Lori her daughter), Bucky, Claudette, Billy, Ralph, and Frances. Both our families had lots of children there were 8 of us Davis’. Billy and I were just one year apart so his homegoing really hit me extra hard. Billy was an old soul who listened well at an early age. He was easy to talk to – Billy didn’t say much, most times, Billy just smiled to help everyone feel at ease. I loved that about Billy. The last time I saw Billy was in January 2021 when our families shared a Zoom call to catch up during the Pandemic. I’m so glad I taped that Zoom session and I will share it with the Willis family. Billy, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to witness your homegoing – but I tried. We will all miss you so much. I know you are brightening up Heaven with your gentle spirit and loving smile. We will remember you always and forever!!! Your friend, Annette

Losing my brother felt like a kick in the chest. As kids, we did what siblings would do; play, fight, but yet loved and not hate each other. He was a quiet and gentle soul that be there for you if needed. Not only did our family lose a brother, but everyone who knew him, especially in Wagner subdivision, lost a brother too. We all hold him in our hearts in a special way, but in mine he can never be replaced. I love you everlasting Billy, I miss you so much.
Yes, Ralph, you are right Wagner subdivision is grieving for your family and our Billy. I was talking about Billy to a friend today after church.
