64 million Americans are on alert because a powerful weather system is thrashing across the country from the Midwest to the Northeast. Forecasters are expecting cold, windy, snowy, rainy conditions with the possibly of flooding, high storm surge, and maybe 40 below if you live near the ocean.
Some good news as the storm approaches is a new feature on the WAZE driving app. This week WAZE launched a way to help drivers report unplowed and maybe flooded roads in real-time. As drivers use the feature to report road conditions, the WAZE app alerts those traveling that they may be approaching unsafe roads or routes. WAZE hopes to provide public agencies with data and insights to reduce traffic and improve safety on the road. You can find the WAZE unplowed road feature under “Hazards -> Weather -> Unplowed Road”.
Stay safe out there and be sure to check my website next week to get more tips on the weather and hear upcoming news about my book, The Overlooked Voices of Hurricane Katrina: Mississippi Black Women Survivors Resilience and Recovery.
